The Albionian invasion of Tristain was an attempted invasion of Tristain by the Reconquista-led Commonwealth of Albion. It was led by Oliver Cromwell, who sought to extend the Reconquista's reach to continental Halkeginia. Though taken by surprise, Tristanian forces quickly routed the Albionian forces at Tarbes. The Albionian invasion of Tristain became a justification for the later Tristanian invasion of Albion aided by Germania and later Gallia.

BackgroundEdit

After the Reconquista defeated the Albionian royalists at the Battle of Newcastle in the Albionian Civil War, it prepared to invade continental Halkeginia. The first country it planned to invade was Tristain, nearest to Albion and whose late king Henry was the last Albionian king James's brother.

CombatantsEdit

AlbionEdit

Albionian forces were led by the Reconquista, a faction of anti-monarchist nobles. The ship Lexington was a rechristened royalist ship formerly named the Royal Sovereign.

TristainEdit

At the time of the invasion, Tristanian forces were largely unprepared for war.

Course of the warEdit

Battle of TarbesEdit

Albionian forces occupied Tarbes, but were defeated singlehandedly by Louise de La Vallière. Tristanian forces then captured Cromwell and Albionian troops.

ConclusionEdit

With their ships destroyed Albionian commanders surrendered to the Tristanian forces.

AftermathEdit

Following the victory at Tarbes, Princess Henrietta of Tristain acceded to the throne. Prior to her accession, Tristain had been under Cardinal Mazarin's regency after the death of Henry.

The Albionian invasion of Tristain also led to an invasion of Albion by an alliance of Tristanian and Germanian forces to dismantle the Reconquista.
