Halkeginia divided society into three social classes: the clergy, the nobility, and the commoners.

ClergyEdit

The first social class was the clergy. Both mages and non-mages—otherwise nobility or commoners—may join the clergy. For example, both Pope Victor, a mage, and Giulio Cesare, a non-mage, were part of the clergy.

NobilityEdit

The second social class was the nobility and (technically) royalty. In Albion, Gallia, Romalia, and Tristain, most of the nobility were also mages. An exception was Hiraga Saito, who was promoted for his service to Tristain. In Germania, which did not have a large population of mages, noble status could be purchased by buying land, a government position, or a military position.[1]

RoyaltyEdit

Royalty is the extended family of a king or queen regnant.

CommonersEdit

The third social class was the commoners, all those not members of the clergy or the nobility. Urban commoners included middle and working classes.

PeasantsEdit

Rural commoners included peasants.
